After many years of developing and improving the Laukhuff S.1, the next generation is now ready:
Like its predecessors, the S2 synchron regulates the power automatically, so that sliders always move reliably, regardless of changes in temperature or humidity.
Like the S1.2, it also ensures that all stops switch at exactly the same time, regardless of the slider travel or force required.

Admittedly, operating the S1.x with its numerous options required a glance or two at the operating instructions. We thought there had to be an easier way and equipped the S2 with a display. With the central dial, you can now set the desired speed directly and start the intelligent learning process at the push of a button. In just a few seconds, the magnet determines the optimal force for the slider.

All additional functions can be quickly configured using switches:
Automatic force control or force presetting with monitoring
Polarity of the control signals (plus or minus switching)
1-wire control system with RS signal or 2-wire control system with ON/OFF signals (e.g. double registration)
Permanent holding force in the ON or OFF position

Now new: During operation, each magnet indicates the actual current required.
This gives you the information you need to design the power supply for the organ correctly.

We continue to source the magnet with a force of up to 105N from Laukhuff's long-standing supplier Kendrion. The internationally leading manufacturer of industrial automation components guarantees uncompromising durability. The double-stroke solenoid is manufactured exclusively for Orgelpunkt at Lake Constance, with a special coil that, in combination with the magnet system, which is manufactured to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter, enables the force characteristic curve to be optimized for organ building. It is not without reason that we have always referred to the development project internally as “Arnold”.

Four sensors monitor the end positions of the magnet and simultaneously measure the speed at which the slider moves. This ensures that the stops are always switched reliably and that the movement to the stops is gentle. Together with the thick felts on the limit washers and the integrated vibration dampers between the magnet and base plate, the intelligence of the S2 ensures almost noiseless registration changes – pure organ music without unwanted percussion accompaniment.

The latest software generation now also optimizes the time it takes to change stops. All stops now switch perfectly in sync, a tutti engages precisely on cue. In double actions, the stop knobs move in precise choreography. The speed can be preselected in 12 steps. All magnets with the same setting run synchronously, even if the slider travel is different.

The S2 can be connected in any installation. It can be operated with voltages from 12 to 27V. (When operated at 12V, the maximum force is limited to 45N).
For dual actions, the S2 also supplies switching signals to the capture system.

The automatic force control is taught in a few seconds after installation at the push of a button and adjusts the force individually to each slider. If the frictional force changes over time, the S2 continuously adjusts to the conditions and ensures reliable operation. Even if there are sudden changes, the slider will not get stuck because the intelligent magnet recognizes the impending blockage and quickly mobilizes power reserves. The display signals the need for maintenance to the organ builder during the next visit.

The alternative power pre-selection mode also copes with difficult mechanical conditions. Here, the power in the ON and OFF direction is preset in 50 precise increments. This mode of operation is suitable for operating mechanical couplers, especially knee-lever designs, or actions that require overcoming irregular resistances or require a release of older sliders after infrequent use.

The sensors monitor whether the end positions have been reached. If the magnet has not reached the end position after 0.7 seconds, the current is increased again for a further 0.5 seconds. This is usually enough to overcome increased resistance. The function of the stop is maintained. The display shows that the mechanism should be checked.

Even though the power pack can develop an enormous 105N (if the slider doesn't work, the organ has other problems...), safety is never compromised.
The S2 generation is built to the latest standards:
A fast-acting fuse protects against overcurrent
A thermal fuse with VDE/UL approval monitors the temperature
The PCB holder, made of a high-tech plastic with the highest fire protection class V0 (according to UL94), protects the control board on all sides.

A climate chamber test under tropical conditions proved that even under the even under the most unfavorable conditions, a magnet under maximum load will not burn through even if the control system fails completely, and even after hours, the ignition temperature of paper or wood will not be reached on the housing.
